Going to test HP gains on the SLP runners at the 1/4 mile
this weekend. I am taking my new SLP siamesed runners to the drag track with me this weekend. I am going to make 3 passes and then install the runners to see what gains I will get.
MY question is are they a DIRECT bolt on or are their some problems fitting the runners as I have heard some people say in the past?
Thanks,
Jamie

Jamie,
It sounds like a great idea, however if you are not going to port match & siamese the upper plenum and port match the lower base. I really think it would be a waste of time and wouldnt expect to see any gains on that day.
Good Luck!

I found that they weren't a direct bolt-on. The bolt that holds the alternator bracket to the front passenger side runner bolt (this would only be 87-older) didn't work and I had to rig up my own setup.
But just to echo what everybody else said, if you don't port the crap out of the plenum and port-match the runners, you're wasting your time. BUT... if you do all that first, then put the stock runners back on, you can still get a baseline. Porting the plenum isn't going to produce noticable changes with stock runners, so you can still get your before & after times with the plenum already hogged out.

Jim85IROC is correct about the alternator bracket. Keep the stock bolt for this and get a spacer or mutiple washers for reinstall. I also took a little metal off my runners with a die grinder in this area so the stock bolt would thread easier as it already has i big washer built in that rubs.
I also vote no to bother to install them untill they are ported to the plenum at a minimum with AZSM gaskets as the gaskets they ship with are stock and suck BC they cover the port openings.

Hey Guys
Thanks for the info. I have already ported the plenum long ago, I am working on my spare base but I was just curious as to the exact .10's (tenths) that I am hoping to shave off my ET with these runners. However, I do not want to start taking them off at the track and installing if I am going to get into a Mickey Mouse ^&%% up. I want to race.
Thanks again guys

When you talk of porting the plenum, are you just talking of the TB inlet? If so you will need to perform much more work where the plenum meets the runners. Your greatest gains will come when you port match both the plenum and runners to AZSM siamese gaskets. It will require alot material removal especially inside the runners but well worth the effort.
I would venture to say 2 tenths solid after the porting.
