FIRST TPI, ever heard of these???
I was just checkin out some stuff on ebay and I came across this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33553
Was wondering what their capabilities were? they look like they flow a lot better than even a ported TPI unit because the runners are ENORMOUS. anyone have of them? They interest me cause I've NEVER heard of it! Apparently they are alright, shed over a second off this guys time http://home.att.net/~ncarboni/NCtpi.html
anyways, just wanted to know what the hell the thing was! later!

those ports are freaking huge. For the money I'd still go stealth-ram, but that setup does intrigue me.

I think its way overpriced. Go buy a stealth ram, or port your stocker.

I believe it was originally made by Air Sensors and sold as a stand alone unit with their own ECM that did not control the ignition curve. The 3" mono-blade T/B (that can be side mounted) and the 4" MAF that came with them sure could deliver a lot more air than the stock TPI. As you can see in the Ebay photos the intake base ports are HUGE compared to the stock unit and replacement units. While the runner diameter is much larger, the length was/is similar to the stock TPI and the unit gives good power down low and didn't seem to have "the wall" associated with other LTR set ups - per old dyno tests. It was not very popular "back when" due to it's $2500 price tag,, and you could not get just the base, runner, and plenum back then - I tried.
The intake, runners, and plenum are the same as the old Electromotive units,, if that means anything to you. However, I believe the Electromotive units used a speed density system with O2 sensor and that ECM controlled a distributor less ignition - you couldn't get just the base, runners, and plenums from them back then either.
As far as power, they usually produced similar,, but slightly better curves than the SuperRam intakes - better low end and similar (usually better) high end - the base intake design is at a better angle than the stock, Accel, and Edelbrock base. I would buy the base, runner, plenum, and T/B if the price was right (not at $950),,,, and could get a TPS rigged on it to work with the factory ECM.

found the website for it

some good info on it. the ports are 1 3/4" and can be ported to 2" if you want to! The manifold itself goes for $995 and they are making one for vortec heads so it's not a thing of the past. I think it's cool, it can handle up to 6500 rpms, and looks like a relatively stock TPI unit to the untrained eye (i.e. mustang owner
) That'd be great for a wild motor with a stock look!

no problem f-crazy. It's supposed to flow as well as a superram, which is plenty of breathing, and it looks very much stock! I wish I knew about this when I was building my motor!!!

wouldnt it still have the limitations of TPI, which seems like every one is getting away from? if ever were to build a 396 stroker or a 406 that first injections design was on my list but i talked to someone about it and they said the limitations of teh TPI would still be there.
