removing throttle body

do you have to drain the coolant first? i cant remember if the back of the throttle body is open or not. i just need to remove my IAC for cleaning but I was hoping not to take EVERYthing apart to do it.

Not really. There will be a little coolant in two of the hoses attached but the back side is not open to any coolant passages.

You don't need to remove your TB to take the IAC motor out. Just disconnect the wire connector and wrench it off... Clean it up and put it back... Depending on the cars milage I would get a newone. If you have more then say around 120,000 miles I would replace it.

well if your going to clean replace your IAC why not clean the TB out?...

4 10mm bolts hold it on, theres a vacuum line hooked to the bottom..

take off the IAC housing on the bottom and clean that out and behind the TB blades and the passeges you see with TB cleaner..

put the IAC housing back on, hook up the vaccum line on the bottom, reset your IAC and TPS, and enjoy another 70,000 miles of problem free TB operation

an hour tops
