They use roller lifters (of course roller cams to go with the roller lifters).

So do I have a roller set up or what? When I look into getting a cam, so I look at the roller cam or hydrolic cams?

OK, no roller rocker but roller lifter is what I got? HUH?

Is the lifter under the spring? Ive never removed any futher than my cover. Can some one explain whats where? Weres the seals that cause smoke at start-up?

the lifters are under the pushrods, on top of the cam lobes. They 'lift' the push rods. In order to get to the lifter's you would have to take the manifold off. 87's have a hydraulic roller cam with hydraulic roller lifters. I prolly spelt hydraulic wrong but w/e.

So when you buy a cam look for hydraulic roller ones, unless you want to change back to flat tappet lifters.

roller rockers are not stock on any roller camed engine. hydr. roller cams talk about the actual cam profile a how the lifter works. Not that there are little rollers in the rockers themselves. You do have a roller block, you just need to buy a set of roller rockers. I sugest the Pro Mags from Crane... they look the strongest and will last longer then the aluminum ones.

Of course not in OUR cars, but the LT4 in Corvettes came with aluminum rollerized rocker arms. Too bad they were aluminum. At least the GM Powertrain guys were smart enough to demand that Crane reinforce teh weak areas of their Gold Race rockers before installing them on a Chevy engine. Even they realized their weak design traits.

BTW - Pro Magnums are from Comp Cams, not Crane. Probably the strongest stud-mounted rocker you can get is the forged stainless Comp "Hi-Tech" rocker. Pro Magnums are a close second.
