MAF vs SD airflow debate

I'm doing the swap soon, and I know this is a hot topic here, but I''m only interested in the airflow aspect of this swap.

The thing is, with MAF, I have a cold air intake ducting running under my front fender. But the air has to go through several restrictive tubes and twists and turns to get to the throttlebody.

With SD, I'd have a K&N bolted directly onto the throttlebody. Now it would be getting plenty of direct air from all around the filter, but I know it's hot air from the engine compartment.

So which is better, less COLD air or MORE hot air?

They're both bad to varying degrees. More cold air is the way to go.

Well considering that most people will just ignore this thread because of your attitude I will give my .02 worth.

Since all the topics you want info on have been exhausted on prior threads you might just want to use the search feature of the site, I can say with a good deal of certainty you will find your answer, captain obvious!!!

Less cold air? You have to be kidding right? As far as I have ever known the MAF is not a restriction nor is a CAI.

Might not want to have hot air pumping into your motor

I figured if you were dumb enough to even ask that question, maybe it wasn't obvious.

See ya next time you need help, and given your IQ, going into an SD swap there will be plenty of questions...people could pretty much tell you anything and you won't know the diff until you turn the key and the ECM smokes itself...

Have a nice swap, and feel free to post any questions along the way.

Sorry, I never meant to get insulting but everyone knows more cold air is better, but that's not even an option here...

This was never intended to be a thread about MAF vs SD debates, I've done all the searches and the reasons for me doing the swap are my own.

I was only wondering which was a more important aspect of airflow to increase horsepower; quantity or temerature...

Well since you apologized for your rudeness, check out gm high tech performance they just did some 1/4 mile track testing with magnum tpi, bolting on the filter to the tb provided the poorest times.

Gee, you think with a thread titled "MAF vs SD debate"? Ominous is right about the article, it's in the May 03 mag.
