edelbrock runners
Anybody else besides me having fit problems with their edelbrock baseplate & runners? I've had vacuum leaks at top & bottom of the runners. Dont seem to hear many people talk about having edelbrock runners on their edelbrock intake. Havn't used any gasket sealant, should I? Advice please!!

My pal had horrendous problems with selaing the Edelbrocks on his 92 T/A ZZ3. He finally gave up and sold them and bought a Super Ram which is way better anyway.
I remember we tried so many different gaskets, the edelbrock ones were junk and so were the Accels.
Finally siliconed the **** out of them and they lasted two weeks.
The leaks were so bad the idle was at 1500 and the headers would begin to glow red hot, now that is leaning out!
They sure look pretty though

Took the car back to the local speed shop that built and installed it(with 1yr warr) and so far they think it's an injector leak?? Doesn't make sence to me!
So far i'm not real impressed with them. But they have a pretty good rep around the area. Jury is out with me!
If the problem can't be solved Holley Stealth Ram may be next.
Thanks for the info!! (yes it's purty)

In my experience with three different gasket manufacturers, all of the TPI gaskets I've used are crap and must be treated with care while cursing, banging, and prying the intake pieces back together... or you'll rip one small edge and have to start all over again with a new $10 set of gaskets...

The fix is GM gasket maker, amazing stuff!!! I have sealed oil pans w/o a gasket wt that stuff. Definetly if an injector o-ring slip's up when you put the rail back in(if you took them out when installing the runners) it will leak. That is exactly what happened to me when I installed the SLP runner's.

Yeah 91wtROH17's, I agree. Gasket maker is great stuff and is all over the surfaces of my intake gaskets too. The O-ring is pretty solid since he went a step farther than you did since he installed the base as well as the runners.

Got it back from speed shop tonight-no leaks now!! You people were right it was a o-ring torn and also a torn lower runner gasket.
Left the shop and got about a mile and it started running rough. Turns out 2 out of 8 injector connections weren't snapped down. I'm done with this place, too many other good shops in the area.
Thanks for the replies, Smurf
