that would make a nice chunk of change for an LT1/t56 swap

What car, gears, rearend, transmission, suspension setup?
Plan on autocross, road race, street race, drag race?

I would keep the 350.
Buy heads, cam, intake, torque converter, and gears to match...
Heads: $750-1500
cam: $100-300
Intake: $400-1200
Converter: $200-650
Gears: $150-500

If you go all cheap for the $1600...you'll have room for the 383 short block, especially if you do a lot of the work, or suspension mods like torque arm, lower control arm relocation brackets, SFCs, etc...and nitrous.

Could also figure out what your goal is while the $3500 sits in a CD as well.

My $0.02

Well i have a NX kit on the car already, the suspension is stock, and i have a 2600 converter. I'll be drag racin it. Would a lt-1/t-56 swap be worth it..how bout a ls-1 swap!?

Since you mentioned a stock suspension you may want to hit that area. I bet doing the entire rear and refreshing the front won't cost all of your savings...

I wouldn't just slap a supercharger on there, or some Juice, I'd take smithtc's suggestion and build up the engine it self. then if you still want more, plop a supercharger on it or what not

if your gonna be drag racing you better get your suspension ready for it... do your entire suspension lca, panhard, springs, sway bars, then hit up the engine, and slicks

Spend about $800 in the suspension, torque arm, lower control arms, relocation brackets, panhard, subframe connectors (very important). Get some 3.73's in the rear, mount some slicks, that should cost around $600-$700. Some AFR Heads and a Comp Cam. Sould probably cost around $1800-$2000 for heads and cam. That should easily get you low 12's if not 11's with the NX kit.

The procharger would be cool, but what good would the power increase be if you can't put it to the ground? I'm thinking you'd be much better off with suspension upgrades before the charger. Spohn stuff is great.

Don't ignore the transmission and differential. If you start building up the engine for power and run slicks (even drag radials) You're going to have a disaster. Either the diff or trans is going to let go, the factory installs wern't meant for that kind of power/abuse.

It is all a balancing act, First get the suspension up to par, then the trans & diff, THEN you can put some real power out in front.
If you blow all your money on the engine and the trans "explodes", you're going to be SOL.

Everyone makes good points and I agree completely that the whole car needs to be setup for whatever kinda of application(abuse!!) it will be used for. However, if it were me, I would get the 'Charger now cause ya got da cash and upgrade the other stuff as I went. Keeping in mind the limitations of the factory hardware and components a supercharger SHOULD NOT destroy or damage a car while a heavy foot with less than adaquete parts will leave you waiting for the bus...

You can do tranny and suspension work cheaper than the cost of admission into the supercharger world. Just my thoughts. For all I know you don't even want a supercharger...

$2500-3500 for the supercharger.

~500 for a junkyard engine once his breaks into many pieces.
That, plus the potential fried trans or rear. Sometimes people just need to use common sense. One furious blast down the track isn't worth $3500...if it makes it that far. Better have your d.s. loop on too. It's fun to say supercharger, and that would be nice...if you can make everything else around it stay together.

i d do what factory freak said get some for suspension and heads and cam. that would be the better road traveled. after u get the heads and cam... think how much more power your car will make with supercharger after those things done. dont forget the tranny too.

Car: Check The Sig
suspension man... build up the car to take the hit of a nitrous and a blower ok. if your gunna wheel hop and spin all the way past the 1/8, and run a 16.4 whats the point of a super charger huh? The answer to your question is right ontop of this page.. Sphon performance. the 350 will be good. do some free mods and you should be happy. also make sure your car is in top shape. Check timming, tps, O2, IAC, MAF/MAP, everything!.. plugs, wires, coil, compression. then do the free mods with the suspension and exhaust. I didnt see anyone sugest exhaust at all here? 1 5/8 headers with a hi flow cat (if your state requires one) and a decent cat back(hooker ) will get you in the right direction not to mention that evil sound!! Then what you have left, look into getting a cam and some heads. Also if you dont have any, get some tools cause you cant work on your car if you dont got at least a decent set of tools. Then after your car is stiff, exhaust is set, heads and cam give ya a neck snapping good time, THEN get a supercharger.. but make sure the rods, pistons, and crank are set for the force. Also a rebuild of the 350 would be a good idea..take it out to a 355, throw some forged stuff in there and you will be able to run boost till the rod bolts snap! good luck with the car.
