Pro's / Con's of HSR

What would the advantages or disadvantages of the HSR be over the Mini-ram?

Is the mini-ram a better choice for high rpm use because of the shorter runners or does the HSR have the best of both worlds in regards to street/strip performance.

Cost is an advantage since the HSR cost around $1000 less, and a disadvantage would be its not street legal. But if your not in an emissions state the HSR is the way to go.

Hood clearance is another *possible* con

along with disassembly time compared to Mini/LT1

Dont get me wrong I recommend the HSR

The mini-ram is not legal for street use either. The only disadvantage I can see is hood clearence.

I'm not sure if this is a pro or con, you need to get into tuning.

Which would be the best intake for this setup? Torquer 305 heads, CompCam (114LSA, 218/224, .464/.470). This is for the car in my sig. I was thinking about the LT1 intake but it seems like a lot of modifing of the intake has to be done. What do you guys think?

I think a fella by the name of Tom Casey did a article for one mag on the LT1 intake on a 377.

I 'believe' it is out now on newstands.

I know lots of folks that like the LT1...but I don't really like it as I do not like the remote thermostat.

I am sticking with my HSR.

I dont have either intake so I dont have any personal experience but for me the HSR is a better choice mainly because of price.

I plead "early morning caffeine deficiency" as my excuse.

Sorry.

It doesnt seem that there is actually alot of actuall street abuse results for either intake out yet. There is not an abundance of dyno charts or track slips floating around for either intake. I think its really a bit early in the game to say that one is better then the other, and at what rpm range that might be. This is of course discounting what 4th gens do with the LT1 intake.

I always kinda thought that the LT1 intake looked a bit different in the 4th gens but I think it looks totally out of place in a 3rd gen, i personally dont like the whole remote mount t-stat thing mostly. Sure everything is fully functional but it is probablly something I would bever run, but who knows, its damn cheap, I have 900$ in my Superram parts, and countless hours of porting dammit!!! Thats damn near double an LT1 swap in price, plus all my time.

GM Hi-Tech is a niche magazine that probably barely has enough money to stay in print. That's the feeling I get because their mags are only like 70 pages, which sucks. All their articles will feature products (intakes) that are sponsered by brands that advertise for the mag. I doubt they will ever do an lt-1 swap article, because there's no "company" to profit from that manufactures them.

TPI383, Popular Hot Rodding is not a GM sponsered magazine. That write-up on the lt-1 intake is awesome though and it's probably the best coverage you'll get of the intake in any mag.

well tested custom plenum slightly over 1" lower than the standard holley plenum for extra hood clearance on c-4 corvettes
http://fasterdeals.com/vette/index.html

standard holley steath ram
http://www.thunderracing.com/index.c...yid=1125#P2944
summit also lists the standard heigh plenum and runners WITHOUT the fuel rail KIT and fuel pressure regulator for $299
the part number for the HOLLEY ADJUSTABLE PRESSURE REGULATOR FUEL RAIL KIT IS 534-186, summit charges $215.39 for that adjustable regulator fuel rail kit
keep in mind that while an adjustable fuel pressure regulator is a nice tuning aid, the non-adjustable is set at about 43 psi pressure
http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...-7540&x=24&y=9
call summit, tech support for details,or better yet HOLLEY tech support................(270) 781-9741
they wrote the advertizing copy.... incorrectly, you will require fuel rail kit # 534185 that costs $ 173.69 additional from summit the stock chevy fuel rails and fuel pressure regulator will not fit, the HOLLEY STEALTH RAM and keep firmly in mind the standard plenum will not fit under the stock corvette hood. If you look closely at the upper right corner picture in that catalog on page 33 of the complete stealth ram youll notice the fuel rails are totally differant than the stock chevy fuel rails and FYI, the picture even has them installed swapped end for end in the catalog, the correctly set up fuel feed starts on the pass side rear and the bye-pass line hooks to the drivers side across the front under the throttle body then feeds down the drivers side fuel rail to the rear, the cross-over line is properly mounted on the front between the fuel rails, not as its shown in the catalog.
,look closely DAVID ALLEN from
http://diabolicalperformance.com/
HAS IT CORRECTLY MOUNTED WITH THE CORRECT FUEL RAILS

NOTICE IN THIS PICTURE THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR IS AT THE CORRECT LOCATION, (DRIVERS SIDE REAR) on this custom stealth ram for daves corvette
