If ur getting some like that you might as well look for a zz4 cam, almost same power band/lift and cost you half hte price of a new roller cam. Thats the cam I went with and im happy with it :hail:

I am running the comp XR276HR cam, specs 224/230 .536/.544 112 @.05 in my 350, that’s with 1.6 roller rockers. Its a great cam, has a lope at idle but still pulls plenty of vacuum. I am running it with a stealth ram intake. My engine is set up for mid to high RPM, so I don't know how well it will work in a LTR setup. 1bad91Z is running it with LTR and seems to like it just as much as I do. Ether way, both of those cams comp recommended should work well.

I would at least go with the 224-230 on a 383. I have the 218-224 cam in my 350 and I think it would be way too mild for a 383. You could go 230-236 if you want to and have characteristics similar to the 224-230 cam in a 350. I had SLP runners & ported stock intake when the 350 was in the GTA. I suggest siamesing the runners as far from the top as you can reach and siamese the plenum openings to match. Remove the EGR walls & match the plenum to the TB if you haven't already. You'll be ok until you get a SR. Bigger injectors than stock and a new chip will be necessary too. HTH, sorry if any of it is old news!

Duration must be at least between 230-240 on the intake side for the kind of idle you're looking for. The LPE 219 cam idles practically like a stock cam in my 383, although my engine is screwed up big time (rings). I talked to a few guys with a lot of exp. and they both recommended the cam in my sig. I think you'd be better off with a single pattern cam with your heads, just as you would if you had AFR's. I'd also seriously reconsider your intake choice. If you already have the slp runners sale them, I'd definitely get rid of them. You at least need a Superram intake for the kind of cam you have in mind and you'd probably be better off with a St.Ram or the lt-1 intake.

i might want to run nitrous later also just a thought i heard dual pattern cams were better for that?but that 555 , 236 combo sounds good i like it cause i had a guy sugest 1 with the same duration but 565 lift i thought that might be to radical u think the 555,236 would still hold good vacume? Its not a big deal tho if single pattern is what i need to run cause i wouldnt have to get nitrous.

I'm just concerned with your choice of heads.
The Fastburns are a Vortech style head (maybe I'm wrong here.) A Vortech style head won't work with any of the intakes that have been mentioned. You'll have to go with the SDPC base to use those heads.
Maybe AFR heads would be better, they seem to be popular in here.
Does anyone know the specific differences between the Vortech heads and the 'regular' ones?
