Gutting the airbox

I never fully understood exactly what this is. Im guessing that you take the little plates off under the air filters, i think held in by 5.5mm bolts? Can someone explain?

you could do that, but i'd doubt that'd do much. Take off that whole assembly that snaps into the bumper, take an electric jigsaw and just chop off everything thats on teh assembly about 1" down from where the filter rests. Thus allowing all of the filter material to come into contact with open air. If you're still confused I can get a picture this weekend unless someone can post the picture that's been floatin around the boards of the mod.
