Tpi

Hey i have a SBC 327 bored .030 over which makes it a 332. its a 69 block 4-bolt mains, it has a mild cam and has something like 9:1 compression with fuelie 2.02 heads, and should be putting out around 340 HP, well i wanna put it in my 87 GTA which currently has an L98, and i was wondering what i would have to do to convert it over to tuned port. please inform me of anything i may need to do, thanks.

umm to put tpi on you would need the block milled for some sensors that your engine in 69 didnt have like a knock sensor, coolant sensor, etc... plus you would need a 85-86 tpi base to fit the older block bolt style. Personaly, i would rip out the computer and everything in the gta... and just drop in the motor old school style... its your best bet. plus tpi isnt great with hi po power unless you moddify the intake path or go with a tpi alternative, i.e. HSR, SR, Minni ram, LT1 intake.... or other EFI converstions out there.

I have a 67' Camaro that I adapted TPI into 3 years ago. I originally got the system running with the 327. The only thing I had to do to bolt an 88' TPI setup on it, was oblong the center bolt holes in the base manifold. The block and heads already have pipe thread openings in the same position as a late model block IE(knock sensor on right side etc). However, the 327 is not a good engine for TPI, so I put a ZZ4 in it 2 years ago. The fuelie heads you have and more than likely the entire engine is built for top end with wery little bottom end (shorter stroke than a 350).
Good luck

Holley Stealth Ram, Miniram, or converted LT1 intake. All will give very good top end.

You can buy one or get info on how to do the mods yourself.

i have a question, which heads flow better the L98 or the 2.02 fuelies, i have asked some people and some say the fuelies, others say the L98 and i'm confused now. i started of maybe just redoing my L98 heads and putting it on my 327 setup. what do you guys think, thnks.

the fuelies will flow better. I dont know the specs off hand, but they have to be bigger then 170cc intake, and it has a bigger 2.02 intake valve, next to the L98's 1.94... only thing is the L98's aluminum heads have a small chamber.. 58cc's to i belive 64cc's on the fuelie heads... that should bump compression up almost 2/3's of a point.. if your gunna use the fuelie heads, and not the vette heads... ill be glad to take thoes vette heads off your hands... PM me if you need me too!
