Fast Idle?!?

This is the second time my car has done this in the past couple weeks...I start it up and it idles at 1500-1750 RPM. The first time it happened I just shut off the car, waited a minute and started it up again and then it was fine. But last night it would not drop...the engine was already warmed up, I tried shutting off the car and restarting, I tried blipping the throttle a couple times and no success.

What would cause a TPI to run at high idle like that?

high idle

I ran into this once, it was my IAC, or idle air control motor. it sticks open and allows too much air to come threw the throttle body. I'd start there.

Yes , clean the IAC. It is on the bottom left side of the throttle body. Unplug it, unscrew it, and clean it and the passage with some carb cleaner and a tooth brush, or a bottle brush works too. Sounds like yours may be carboned up and sticky.
