Make some shims out of flat aluminum stock to build up the height of STB.
Note mine under the support brackets.

the reason why this is happening is because with Poly mounts the engine sits higher. a lot of people have had this problem...hate to tell you this but Im pretty sure most people end up ditching the poly and going with quality GM motor mounts. Good Luck!

Definately go with DJ's idea, keep the poly mounts.

Try any hardware store or a big box one like HOME DEPOT. Any flat stock 1/8" should work. With the small thickness you can check to see how much you will need for clearance over the TPI. Just remenber you also have the hood clearance.

I read that using Poly mounts can give the knock sensor false vibrations from the chassis and cause the timing to retard. Mainly using them on the transmission mounts. Anybody else hear about that?

I run poly motor mounts and stock tranny mount and noticed no retard increase after the swap.

hmmmm... I guess the story is bunk then! I can't see how the suspension and road noise could duplicate 'ping'.

The further away from stock you go the bigger the PITA a STB becomes.

My motor sits on poly mounts with a Superram intake. My Hotchkis STB is bolted all the way forward on the strut towers for max clearance. While the STB cleared the motor I had to pull the hood insulation and cut out the middle support so the STB would clear the hood.

I have all mounts energy suspension poly-urethane and I have plenty of room with my Hotckis brace.

It depends on the car if you have clearance or not the over TPI with the STB, variables exists.
