Need a cam sugg. ASAP, spending money like water right now :)
Need a cam sugg. ASAP, spending money like water right now :)
Ok, here goes. I've spent about 1300 dollars in the past hour so while I'm still in the mood, I need to get my cam ordered.
Motor
350 2 bolt block
.060 over with speed pro hyper. pistons (9.35:1 compression)
eagle I-beam rods
World Products Sportsman II heads, unported
Holley Stealth Ram /w AFPR and FMS blue top injectors (24#/hr)
Stock TB for now
Transmission is a stock 700R4 which will get a TransGo shift kit and stall converter /w stall speed of 2200-2600.
Stock 3.23 gears w/ posi (RPO G80)
What cam would be good for me? This is going to be a daily driver so nothing too radical. Also something that won't make the computer flip out. I'm trying to follow the IROC in GM High Tech (been posted on forum before) According to them, they got 330 RWHP on the stock chip with a little timing and fuel pressure adjustments. Also, the cam needs to be a hydraulic cam.
I would love to get a burned chip but in about a month, me and my fiance are getting an apartment so "chip" money I had set aside will be going for deposits.
Going astray from the subject, I killed the 305 last weekend. I was acting an *** in the rain doing donuts and apparently my car ran about a quart low (I knew it was burning oil thanks to GM's awesome valve guides, but it went a quart low in like a few days)
Anyway, I guess between being low on oil and the oil getting sloshed around, I managed to spin a rod bearing.
Oh well, out with the old, in with the new.

Seems like you would need a cam with about 220 dur @ .050. Lift depends on type of cam you use(Flat tappet or Roller). If you have anything left over have the heads ported also, there is a lot to gain from Sportsman II heads, or even better DIY!!
I dont call the way your killed the 305 being an ***, I call it taking out the trash with style! Thats the best donut youve ever done!! You could even say "I did a donut and ended up gaining (X) amount of HP..lol
