89 Iroc needs your guys help

K guys, i just found out im gonna be awarded close to 2800 bucks for extra money spent towards my college:-) And im looking of course to put the money into my baby. im gonna take about 800 of it for paint(dad friend paints :-))and the other money for little things(brakes, steering wheel). Gears and intake aside for later i need motor help. i got the built up trans but my motor has about 120k in it. Seems to run strong no probs with it. So heres what i was thinking. Only problem is i gotta find someone to do the work cuz i dont know how and have no expiernece doing it

1.) do a head and cam swap on the motor as is. 450(worked l98 heads)and a custom ground zz9 or zz409w/kit(600)

2.) buy a remanufactured motor and do the same things(2500)to much i think

3.) crate motor but htat may be too much.

SO my question is doesanyone have any suggestions to say around 2100 or 2200 bucks and maybe hit mid 13s on the stock intake untill stealthram comes. Sorry for the long post Thanks!

Check out my website for what I did to get me there.
With that many miles on your engine I would wait to the heads and cam.
You should really set a goal as far as HP/performance. If you already know for sure that you want the stealthram then why not get it now and wait and save your money for a new motor when you need it?

i mean besdies the motor blowing up which i dont think will happen it runs very strong right now and doesnt smoke or burn anything so y not go with the heads and cam. also i would rather get the motor first and then go intake jsut a preference. Any suggestions on some sites within my price range or ideas. Thanks

Since you are having to pay someone else to do the work I would not do the cam and heads now. Labor for that work is very high. If you have a motor built then that will all be included in the price.

This is one of the best sites for the information you're looking for.
