I dont see how personal experience can be misleading??
I have see 2 motors that used Penzoil that did infact have crud buildup around the rockers. They were both Ford motors and both used only Penzoil. Now what I cant tell you is if they changed their oil every 3000 or not, or if they ran it low on oil, or maybe even overheated the oil. Still doesnt change the fact they had Slude!!!

I can tell you what the problem was right now!
lol no really, it probably was their failure to change it on time. The average person is not very good about getting their oil changed on time, and many are horrible about it. I've seen the inside of my share of motors using Pennzoil. Naturally, the ones treated best looked fine. Honestly, I doubt Pennzoil has spent billions of dollars over the many years to develop and promote a product that bad. They use it in professional motorsports all the time. Logic should tell you it's the treatment, not the brand, that matters in this case.

Used Pennzoil for over 25 years in all my cars, not an ounce of sludge in any of them.
