I recently installed a cam, headers, AFPR, and a few other things associated with a cam swap (springs,timing chain and gears,etc.). I also put in 24# SVO injectors, I thought it would run at least until I could get a PROM burned or do one myself. But it is just way to much fuel, the plugs foul out within just a few miles of driving and there is a lot of fuel in the oil. Obviously I dont drive it like this, so I dont think I could have caused any damage to the engine. I am not ready to burn my own PROM yet, or want to pay $350 for basicly a fuel inj. constant change. So, I put the original 22# injectors back in, cleaned the plugs off and changed the oil. When I started the car there was still some black smoke coming from the exhaust and after a short drive it started running like crap and backfiring like it was doing when the plugs were being fouled by the 24#'s. I didnt pull a plug yet because I have to go to work, but I am sure I will find them fouled. There was quite a bit of fuel in the oil, do you think maybe I just need to change the oil again. Could a bad 02 sensor cause the plugs to foul?
BTW,it is a 1990 5.7 TPI.

Fuel in the oil? Where is your fuel pressure set? How many miles are on your engine? What are your cam specs, and/or what cam are you running?

A bad O2 sensor can cause rich conditions...

When I first put together my first TPI engine, it ran scary rich at first because I was using a 305 TPI chip with a built 383 until I could save for the PROM burning equipment. I could drive it though! Ran fine most of the time but it did stall occasionally when cold...

 

When I had the 24#'s in there I kept the fuel pressure kinda low, around 35psi. With the 22#'s in there it is at 43psi. The engine has about 100,000 miles on it and the cam is a Crane 2030.
