bouncing rev counter/gauge

i have noticed my rev counter bounces slightly and my engine misses or is jerky when cruising or accellorating,
i have checked plugs/leads/distributor cap and rotor arm all are fine?
any ideas...
ive got a 5.7 transam gta with tpi..

Ignition module going south or loose wire.
