Ok been working on the car for a decent amount of time, i finally got it started up and i have a massive vac leak cheacked it out and its coming from the runners to the plenum so i pulled apart looked at it and the damn plenum is stripped where the bolts are was thinking about helicoilin it or having it sleeved worth it or not worth it, only other option is either junkyard TPI or aftermarket base and runners and still gotta go get the plenum, any suggests would be helpful
Fill the hole with JB weld, drill and tap it. It will be stronger than the aluminum...

Just make sure you get the new bolt hole drilled and tapped in the exact location and angle, otherwise you'll have a hard time bolt your runners to the plenum.
Or, you can just buy a ported plenum from TPIS.

A sprial wound stainless steel thread repair. You drill and tap the hole to the size specified on the package, use the little plastic tool and thread coil on it, then thread that into the hole..Viola! new threads, stronger than original. When dealing with alum. you should always use a stainless steel thread repair, if you use one of the plain steel inserts you will have problems from dissimilar metal corrosion.Originally posted by Bri3212

Expensive? The kit costs about $20 and comes with everything needed except the drill bit, that will set you back maybe $3

how does $50.00 sound?
Not sure what it's worth.....I see ported ones sell for $100-$150 so for sure not that much.

I gt my drill and tap kits from a local bolt company, typically pay aroudn 15$. Even Autozone is cheaper at around 20 for the kit.
