stock 305 tpi pistons are???
what kind are they
are they cast or are they hypertechnic( i know that i spelt it wrong but you get the idea)
what would be a nice upgrade from stock and not cost too much
i'm going to rebuild my 305 instead of swaping a 383 in.
plan are to do a couple basic things to her.
1- keep stock LB9 heads and have 1.94" intake vales put in. or to get a set of L98 vette heads that i can have redone and cleaned up a bit.
2-a new cam somewhere around a Ram Jet cam-(.431/.451)
3-headman LT headers
4-MSD igition

Stock are cast.
A nice upgrade for cheap money are Hypereutectic. I'm currently running Keith Black hyper's in my motor right now. They're good for a N/A application, I wouldn't dump more than a 125 or 150 shot on them though.

thanks, i was planning on going Hypereutectic, but just wanted to make sure that stock was cast. everybody tells me to get a 350 or get forged and throw 200shot on it. i might run a 50shot everynow and again just for the fun of it--. can they hold that.
also should i replace my crank for that too.
i wanna spin the motor up to around 5500rpm, and a set of SLP runners and a ported stock manifold should let me do that w/ the right cam
not too sure on that ram jet cam--

Hyper's will handle a 50 shot no problem. Just make sure your fuel pump is good, etc. The stock crank will be fine for a 50 shot and 5500rpm.
Get the rods reconditioned and shotpeened, or if you want.. buy new Eagle I beams. Put ARP bolts in them. You should be all set then.
