More on the 406. I really thought I could drive it to 11 seconds yesterday. Apparantly not the case. The track started going away early. The factory cars were running typical times just to show that the night wasn't better/worse than normal. I.E. 3 zo6s were high 12s @ 111. 03 cobras 12.90 @ 110. My second pass at Milan, MI was the quickest of the night. Here goes.

1.879 60
5.144 330
7.827 1/8 et
90.37 mph
12.034 1/4
118.13 mph

Again, with et streets, I'd say easily 11.7. I launch it at idle and it still spins. 255 drag radials.

Questions:

Tried 36, 38 and 40 degrees of timing. Engine didn't care...Why?

Somtimes it picks up 25 mph in the 2nd 8th and sometimes 28 mph. Either way I have near identical trap speeds. Am I overanalyzing?

Does anyone around me have some et streets I can use for a pass? haha

You just need to get that 60 footer down a bit! You have the trap speed to run mid 11's ! Sounds like it's only traction and launch technique holding you back.

Just my $.02

I agree with 1bad91Z. Get those 60' times down, and you'll kick the door open. I still havent beat my brothers best time in my own car, and thats the fastest its ever been. Its all in the launch.

Your MPH is great. What cam are you using. I checked your site and all I could find was that it's a Crane roller.

Pics? What do you want? I know some people are looking for some of my Autopower 4 point. Working on it. But otherwise the car looks stock. I even run the 16 inch salad shooters on all 4 and air. haha.

Cam is a comp cams custom grind. Patterned after the TPIS ZZX because 11sec91zs car traps sp well. I worked with comp to take a BBC lobe and make it a SBC lobe. This should make it easy to get this cam now (read: cheaper). It spec'd at 240 240 and .560 lift. Now, when that 240 occurs is another story....

Stuff to make more power:

*1.6 RRs
*Actual good headers
*Port the LT1 intake TB opening to the same size or larger as the throttle body. Now it necks to 51-52mm. This can't help.
*Port the LT1 intake intake ports. They seem to taper a bit as compared to the box stock AFR 190s. How much it will help who knows?

Just how are trying these differant total timings? You burning proms at the track? That's the ONLY way to adjust the timing curves on an EFI car.

Milan sucks for traction, my formula just spun the tires there, vette did the same thing last year. Both times people complained about the traction.

Good trap speed though, 60' time way better than my 2.2 for both of mine.

Yep, John, burning proms. I don't see why adding base timing wouldn't do the same thing though. Maybe I am wrong? I just find burning a chip easier then moving the dist.

Try less timing. The engine will only require XX timing, running anything more then what it requires will not gain you any performance but will eventually hurt performance, detonation. Timing is not like a power adder, with NOS the more you spray the faster you go, with timing once you exceed the engines requirement nothing happens, nothing at all.

Also might try pulling some timing out at your launch RPM in order to control wheel spin if your tires wont hold.
