HELP!! Installing Stealth Ram!!!!

I'm having a problem installing the stealth ram, the problem that i'm having is that the sensors off the stock TPI unit for the cooling system do not fit on the stealth ram correctly, WHAT DO I DO??? The other problem is that the vacuum tube connectors that go to the intake and the plendum are not fitting on the Stealth ram, I need some help on this people, i have no idea what to do or what parts to buy. If anyone has installed a HSR please try to help me, or even if you just know what to do in this matter please let me know. The vehicle is a 1987 IROC if makes any difference, Thanks everyone!!!!

Does you HSR have a flat that is not drilled in the front? Some
of the first manifolds were only drilled with one 1/2" pipe hole.
If yours is one of these just drill and tap it 3/8" pipe.
I have used a reducer in here to put the other sensor in. As for
the vacum stuff, time to get creative. Copy paste my link and look
at how I did mine, maybe you will get some Ideas.

Have you tried a search? Everything to do with the HSR has been discussed four million times. The CTS should install into the coolant crossover, there should be two different holes, one is for the CTS and the other is for the heater. As for the vacuum lines, there is some of fabrication involved and many different ways to do it. Basically just get some barb fittings for the correct size vacuum line and screw them in the back of the plenum. Id assume you need one for the power brakes, one for PCV, one for the cruise control and one for the pressure regulator. I used the bottom plenum hole for the IAT, that way I didnt have to extend the harness.

Yep, I agree with these guys 100%. Check out my webpage under HSR Installation for more answers concerning fuel rails, sensor locations, hood clearance, etc.

The coolant sensor with the brown connector is for the Cold Start Injector. aka 9th injector. As you may have already figured out it is not used on the HSR.

J,
None of your links in the site work.....they are pointing to your hard drive instead of the server space.

BTW, I didn't know you were M.E. at OSU! I'm M.E. at OU, 2nd year - that's cool.

Anyways, fix your links, cause I'd like to see the info, too.

go to home depot, and in the plumbing department you will find all of the brass adapters that you will need. I don't remember the sizes but I just took one of each size vacuum connectors and the plenum with me and matched them up. Rick is right, you do not need to use the large temp sensor anymore, so plug that hole. Your smaller temp sensor will thread into the driver side port by the thermostat housing. You can extend the wires to reach, or you can plug that one and adapt the other side.

-Used a 85 Camaro Carbureted upper radiator hose (Dayco 71028) (trimmed the ends back)
- Use a std. small block Chevy waterneck (Mr. Gasket PN 2661)
-Two 1/4" x 1/8"NPT straight barb fittings (rear of intake, MAP sensor and other items, I run only one line to MAP)
-One 3/8" x 3/8" NPT straight barb fitting (rear of intake other vacuum items)
-One 3/8" x 3/8" NPT 90 deg. barb (goes under plenum, used for brake booster)
- 2 feet 1/4" vacuum hose
- 2 feet 3/8" vacuum hose
- (1) 5/16" compression fitting to -6 male AN
- (1) 3/8" compression fitting to -6 male AN
- (2) 3-1/2 foot -6 line with female hose ends. Goes from inlet and outlet to fuel stock fuel lines which are cut from underneath car, the two compression fittings are installed on the stock fuel line.
- (3) 1/4" vacuum plugs for EGR solenoid and throttle body
- (1) large clamp

Dang...sorry I must have messed those up today when I was uploading.

YEP! I can't wait to get out of here! I'm a 4th year (taking me 4.5 years to grad)

The links should be up and running now...let me know if anything is faulty.

89transam, I'm going to put that info on my page if you dont mind.

Are you using the TB with an 'arc' (late model) or the TB with the 'pull loop'? I've posted about this before I think...

This my setup...the old style throttle body works best

Or you can use the late-model style and grind the brass fitting a little and grind the arc a little. OR you can go to napa and get a narrower 90 degree fitting.

Its the arc style. I think I may go to some junkyard and see if I can pull a old TB.

If I grind away too much "arc" it could cause problems correct?

Ya, it could cause some trouble if the cable slips out of the 'track'. Try the $1.50 fitting at napa (usually in stock) first before you go to too much trouble finding a different TB.
