TPI wiring, ect! help imma noob!
Hey guys, im new here so dont reem my head off too badly! but i recently picked up an 85 camaro Z-28 5-speed and its carb.ed and i figured id do the TPI swap, so i ended up getting the TPI setup off of an 87 TPI Iroc-Z 5-speed(305) and the guy gave me everything to do it and i mean everything! the only thing he didnt give me was the wires from the fuse box(?) to the fuel pump. other than that i got.....
TPI intake setup w/goosneck(with all sensors on it)
TPI throttle cable
complete wiring harness
ECU
All Engine Sensors
Inside wiring harness(recently figured out was the ALDL and wires to the fuse box, INJ1, INJ2,Eng. CNTRL, Fan,CRK, ECT)
gas tank w/ sending unit
charcoal canister
serpentine setup
complete air box with MAF
Fan Assembly
i even got the tranny w/ bellhousing
Grill w/ foglights
a set of headmen headers(new non camaro)
all for 470 bucks! i think i got a decent deal!
well anyways my problem is i found almost all the wires going inside the car, but there are 2 wires(one green and one black) that im not sure where they go to (all others listed above with the ALDL Plug) i think they go to the fuel pump or at least to a fuse then to the fuel pump. but can anyone point me in the right direction here? is there any other interior wiring i have to do? i can take a pic of it and post it if you guys would like. also there are a few wires that the guy cut but he told me they were all grounds(5 to be exact) 2 of them come out in the same spot as the oil sender plug is,a wire for the sensor on the coil bracket, and the distributor plug, the colors of the wires are brown and one black w/white stripe. the other 3 come out where the EGR plug, and upper Intake plenum plug (MAT sensor i think?)and the colors for those wires are Black w/ white stripe, Peachish brown, and black w/ greyish stripe. if any of you could help id greatly appreciate it! also im putting this setup on a 400CID i got for free from my brother out of a 73 caprice vert. 2bbl stock(175hp stock rating) and i want to put a set of good heads on it(200-220 intake runner, 2.02/1.60 or biger valves) and run about 9.-9.5:1 plus a mild cam because i dont want to go outrageous. probably 420-460lift. iv got an edlebrock exhaust system w/ punched cat(sounds pretty good!) and stock manifolds right now. but im going to put some smog legal headers on it, and i want to keep most of the smog equipment on this car. is there any way possible with what i want to do to run 12's even if its 12.99 w/ slicks, posi, good gears? i dont know if the TPI setup will make me lose tons of HP but what would i have to do? plus i dont know much about getting proms or chips for the computer? i really need help even if someone wanted to IM me on AOL instant messanger it would be very sweet TurbosDaBomb is the name. but my brother has a carbed 88 firebired with a 400 and 5-speed(11:1 pistons RPM cam RPM intake 750dbbl pumper, headers, no cat flomaster muffler) and he ran 13.30's with his with slicks and 4:10 gears, T-top car and its bored 30 over and has 5.7in rods. i want to be able to run with or beat him. any luck? siemese port the stock runners? or new big ones? all the help will be GREATLY appreciated as i further state! help help help

I whipped out my schematic so here goes. You may have to get a continuity tester (ohm meter) to do some of this.
Starting from the top:
-------
The black and green wires. Any loose black wires are going to be ground.
The loose green wire needs to be located on the ECM connector to decipher where it goes. Can you use the ohmmeter to pinpoint the location on the ECM connector? Here are some of the possibilities for it:
1.) A/C turn on signal (tells the ECM to raise the RPM when the A/C comes on)- Connector AB (24 pin), position B8.
2.) EGR diagnostic temperature switch- Connector CD (32 pin) position C15.
There are some other green wires, but they go to the MAF sensor, and the automatic trans torque converter clutch solenoid. So unless those connectors look like they are missing a wire, it's likely that green wire belongs to one of the two above.
------
That brown wire that is near the oil sensor plug, There are two possibilities for it:
1.) The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) buffer. It is located on the ECM connector AB (24 pin) at position A10.
2.) Electonic Spark Control ground. Does it come out of a four-wire connector that has a dark blue, black, and pink/black wires? If so, then that brown wire goes to engine/chassis ground.
-----------
The black with white stripe is indeed a ground. Simply ground it to a good location on the chassis or engine.
-----------
Not sure about the "peachish brown" wire. It may be discolored due to heat and age. Can you locate it on the ECM connectors? If I know the position of the wire, I can tell you what circuit it belongs to. Simply put one end of the ohmmeter to the wire and start probing the connectors with the other end. When you get continuity, record the connector and the terminal position.
------------
Again, the black with gray stripe. This may be a discolored black with white stripe (likely). In which case, simply ground to the engine or chassis.
Feel free to e-mail me if you need any help- ultm8z@yahoo.com.
