shield under lower intake
What's the metal shield that's bolted underneath the bottom of the lower intake manifold supposed to do?
I took mine off and found a lot of crap in there.

I see said the blind man. Isn't there more to that?
I guess it's probably a good idea to clean it out when the manifold's off. When I pulled my engine apart I found a lot of crap in the cylinders. 5000 miles. That and vibrations were leading the engine to a very premature death.

It also shields the hot oil from heating the air in the intake manifold; cooler air = denser mixture = more power.
