383 Horsepower Estimates

Alright guys, the engine is totally figured out. After debating 355/383, I'm going 383. Might be a daily driver but I'll take the MPG hit and enjoy the torque

-2-bolt Block
-Scat 9000
-Scat 5.7" I-Beams
-TRW Hyperuetic Pistons (.030" Over)
-AFR 195's
-10:1 Compression
-Ported TPI Base/Plenum
-SLP Runners
-52MM Throttlebody
-XR276HR (224/230 @ .050, .535/.544 with 1.6 rockers)
-Proper Tune
-SLP Shorties

Any ideas of hp/tq? With the 6-speed and 3.73's, track times?

I'm ordering the rotating assembly ($539) in 2 weeks and porting the base/plenum in 1 week. The rest should come by next fall. I should add that I will be upgrading to a "ram" within the next 2 years.

That's what most people are saying...

How about with a Superram (Gotta stay emissions legal)?

I have almost the same build up except for forged rotating assy. with forged TRW flat top pistons, 4 bolt main block, Trickflow 23 degress twisted wedge heads and MSD ignition. I ran my numbers through Desk Top Dyno and came out with 420 hp and 478 ft torque. Now that is at the fly wheel. You never realy know what you have until you run it on a real dyno.

Ramair2, what do you have that 406 in? That's not the motor in your 91, is it?

And, are you talking about Midwest engine on Milwaukee st? Your numbers just seem to be a little optomistic, and I'm curious because I know a few people from Midwest and I normally hear about the hot motors moving through there.

I wasn't aware that MATC had a chassis dyno... I know they have a transmission dyno, though. There is a chassis dyno in Madison, it's out on hwy CV north of Packer's Ave. I believe you get three WBO2 pulls for $65 or so.

Yep,,, 620 TQ @ 5000 means you would have a 590 horse engine @ 5000 rpm. 520 ft/lb @ 5000 might be more like it,,, that would be around 495 horses,,, which generally speaking is about what a 540 horse 406 engine @ 6500 rpm could be making at 5000.

Good luck with the install,,, sounds like you've got a good stout build going there.
