L98 sensors

OK, here's my problem(s): I purchased from a person on e-bay a L98 fuel injection set-up off of a corvette. On the ECM it says "1988 L98 TPI" with a service number of 1227163. This guy swore it was MAP sensor. I called 4 dealerships and 3 junkyards and they all say that the service number on the ECM is non-exsistant. I found that the ECM service number that probably should be on the ECM ends in 165. The fuel rails also look like a F-Boby, not a Y-Body. I started labeling the sensors and I am starting to think that it is MAF because I think I found the 2 MAF burnoff relays. So any way did they make a L98 MAP sensing unit for that year or did I get screwed? Thanks.

If it is an 88 then it is MAF. Sorry but it sounds like you got screwed...

It does sound like you got screwed, but all is not lost. The MAF harness can be modified fairly easily to MAP.
Do a search on the DIY Prom board. It's been done many times and is well documented.

What about the cold start or 9'th fuel injectors, were they MAF only or were they both on the MAP and MAF?

Does your computer have 2 or 3 connections on it? The fuel rails exit on the passenger side on the corvette and the drivers side on the FBody. GM started using the MAP system in 1990 and went back to MAF sometime between '93-94 I think.

I did a conversion on my '89 Iroc. The motor and all the accessaries where from a '91 Corvette. A L98. There are so many things you need to do when swapping a corvette into a FBody.

Calirocz28, do your fuel rails come straight out or do they have a 90 degree angle at the end?

They have a 90 degree at the ends but they exit on the passenger side. The Camaro exits on the drivers side. I had to make so many little mods like this because of the Corvette motor. Like the cross over tube due to Aluminum heads on the Corvette L98. The muffler shop used almost 2 tanks of gas cutting a hole in my ceramic coated headers so the bung could be welded for the egr tube. It's so small unexpected things that you run into that can get annoying. I did learn a great deal from it all and for that I'm glad.
