New Throttle Blades?
I bought a Holley 52mm throttle body from somebody online, he said it needed new blades which were $30 from holley. So I bought it, got it today, and they look fine to me. Not warped or anything? Anybody know why I would need them?

anybody else. the guy said it was on a car that had a nitrous back fire so they were parting it out
maybe they got some ash deposits on them
I honestly can't see why it'd need to be replaced but it on the car and test it. if it starts to slowly keep revving you know something isn't sealing right.

why would it keep reving? the tps reading wouldnt be affected, so wouldnt it just run lean?

I guess I should say the idle would be higher instead of it keeps revving. if the blades are bent or defunct, more air would be getting into the motor but as you said, the TPS would be seeing the same angle of the throttle blades at a lower RPM so the computer wouldn't bump up fuel and you would run lean as a result of the increased RPM. more air into a motor = more RPM

computer would also see either the diffrence in manifold pressure or the diff in air coming thru the MAF.
for a lil example, go pull your TPS connector off, and go start your car.... you can drive it around just fine.... because the computer doesnt solely use the TPS to determine how much air is coming thru the motor... btw, if you do that, you'll throw a code... i once forgot to plug in the TPS and drove it around the block without it... seemed fine actually...... well, except for the big SES light telling me im a dumbass.

I had a Holley TB that I bought off of someone also. Had the bad idle problem. It turns out to be that the person put new TB Blades and they were not the correct size. I sent it to a guy named Tom Biship in TX and he made the correct size blades. No problems anymore.
