Vacuum Leak or Distributor?
Hey guys I am not a member to this board but Im using Dave's name to post. My name is Gary and yesturday we put new "stock size" injectors in my buddies 87 TPI GTA. Since we had to take the entire upper intake off we replaced all of the upper gaskets. I used the injections from Dave's old TPI engine so we didn't have to disconnect the injectors from the fuel rails. The new gasket kit came with injector o-ring seals. I replaced the o-rings and installed the injectons and fuel rails. I made sure that everything fit nice and snug before I tightened them down. After that we connected all fuel lines and installed the upper intake with all plugs, vacuum lines, and new gaskets. During this project I noticed his coil and cap and cap was all pitted and white. We replaced the cap/rotor and coil. When we were done the car wouldn't idle. We were able to keep it running if we gave it gas. What do you guys think this could be? A vacuum leak maybe? All intake bolts were nice and tight and the gaskets were on correctly. It also doesn't require a brain surgeon to replace a cap and rotor so Im thinking that is not the problem either. Please help!

Did you ever figure out the problem? I just installed a new engine in my car and it has the same problem, it barely stays running, especially in drive.... just wondering if you came up with anything?

Couple of things to check:
-Did you tear any of the O-rings? If the top ones for the injector were torn, you should notice an obvious fuel leak...if the bottom ones are torn or not properly seated, there could be a vacuum leak.
-What "stock" injectors are being used? Assume that 350 injectors for 350 and 305 for 305 only.
