Need opinions on engine buildup

I want my car to scream and I already have 3.73 12 bolt rear and will be getting a 6 speed to replace the 5 speed when i put in this bigger engine.I have an lt1 intake already and its on my 305 right now.I want to build an engine that will really pull hard up top and take advantage of the lt1 intake.I will be building either a fully forged 355 or 383.Not sure if the 383 can spin to 6200 to 6500 safely. What do you guys think would be best a 355 fully forged with AFR 190's the lt1intake and a cc305 cam.I think this 355 would really screw up top or 383 with the same heads cam intake as the 355.I really just want the upper rpm horsepower 4500 to 6500.Let me know what you think and anyone running these please share your results. thanks

You can easily spin that with a 383 if it's built correctly without any problems. What are the specs on that cam?

the cc 305 is a 220/230 .510 .510 114 lsa i might even be better with the cc306 cam though 230/244 .510 .540 112 lsa. Yeah i was not sure if a 383 would run smooth and make good horsepower that high because of the deeper stroke.

I like the CC306 cam, but I think something w/ a single pattern would work better with the AFR's. A nice combo would be the 383 w/ AFR 190's and a ZZ-X cam (239°/239°, .558/.558 lift ground on a 112° lsa). Pretty big cam, but that would scream for sure. My buddy has AFR 190's, LT1 intake, and a custom cam ground to ZZ-X specs in a 406 and it's very streetable and make great power. He also has a 6 speed.

If the ZZ-X is too big for ya, maybe try a custom grind around 232/232.

I agree with the ZZ-X cam selection. The AFRs flow much better than any stock head, which isn what dual patterns were designed for. They crutch a weak exhaust port, which is what stock style small blcok heads need.

I'd definately build a 383 vs a 355. It'll cost the same, but you'll have a torquier engine that idles better.
