Taking apart TPI... Help

Ok I got the plenum off and all the runner bolts are out, but the runner wont come out. Do I have to take the fuel rails off or the valve covers off, anything like that.... Any help would be appriciated. Thanks

There are two bolts which came in from the back side, one for esch runner. Did you get those bolts???
If I remember correctly, there are 6 bolts for each side runner for the intake/runner joint. So do you have 12 bolts from this joint?

BTW: You do not need to remove the fuel rails.

If you have all bolts out, then again if I remember correctly, the runners need to rotate out. Try some finesse, do not force anything!!!!

If the plenum is off and alll the bolts from the lower portion of the runners are out then all thats left holding them is gasket material. Just rock the runners back and forth enough and everything will sepreate. You may have to pull out the lower inside runner bolts to remove them, but by moving the runners back and forth gently the bolts should come out. After that the runners just come right off, nothing else to remove.

The fuel rails have to be loosened and lifted up somewhat until you can work the runners out.

I have had mine off several times and have never had to loosen the fuel rails. I simply remove the bolts from the runners, tap it with a rubber mallet to break the gasket seal, lift them up slightly and rotate them a little to clear the valve covers and lift them out.

I have removed my factory ones atleast 20 times without having to loosen the fuel rails. I also know that the SLP runners come off without removing the fuel rail. You just need to posistion the runner at the right angle and it comes out nicely.

Oh well!! I had to lift mine to get out the SLP runners. If I didnt I wouldnt have told him to. Life is just so wonderful for some of you, for others like me it just sux sometimes I guess. Wish I could be on top of the food chain. It would be a nice change of pace.

I've had my runners off more times than I can recall and I have never had to loosen the fuel rails. Take out the runner bolts, wiggle it, and out it comes. Life is good up here on top!

I mean the ones on the outside. Not the ones on the inside. The injector and the runner blocks the veiw of them.

Wait till you get the bill J/K
I use a 1/4" drive 10MM socket, a long #40 torx bit, the appropriate 1/4" drive extension and a ratchet. The 1/4" system gives me a little more room to work in.
