Victims of mileage

I am curious as to what parts are the first to begin detioriorating due to increased milieage. My car is an 89 Iroc with an L98 and 700r4 trans with 2.77 gears. I got a job offer that would cause me to comute and extra 10-15(I now drive 3 miles each way) miles each way each day. I am trying to weigh the increase in pay against the wear on the car. All but maybe 2 miles each way would be down the highway during non-rush hour (2-10shift). The car has 91,000 miles on it now and is running great, was very well maintained by the previous owner, and i would like to think that i am just as diligent. Thanks for anything.
Josh

It should be fine. Of course with high mileage problems rear up everywhere and everytime you turn around - that's the nature of high mileage.

The fact that you maintain it diligently is a card to your advantage.
YOu have already minimized potential problems, but there is nothing you can do it to rewind the clock

...short of a full restoration.

anything that would wear faster with the higher average speeds of the highways, like wheel bearing wearing faster than i need to do the brakes, or things like that? thanks

Unless it is a lot of stop and go traffic, then tires would be about the only noticable wear increase. It is actually better for your engine to run longer, gives it a chance to get up to operating temp and evaporate any moisture in it.

I used to drive my formula 35 miles one way to work. Mostly backroads, but, not a lot of stop-and-go. I have 178000 miles on it now, and it still runs good. (although, I did have to replace the rear end, carrier bearings where getting noisey, rebuilding the b/w rear was a pain, trying to find parts for it was a real drag.)

if you maintain it and dont abuse it, the only easily forseeable problems is the valve seals start to leak at startup (usually around 100-120k) and around 120-135k, expect to overhaul the 700r4
