Need Tpi Help Buying A Car

HI I might be buying a gta it has the 350 tpi but this is what the guy said was wrong with it "The car comes with a set of aluminum heads already on it, but the intake manifold does not bolt up to it so the original heads will need to be put back on, or a corvette intake manifold can be put on to increase the HP".If i just want put back the original heads how much is this going to run me if i take it to a shop he was quoted $400 labor.Any help we be appreciated thanks

Why not just do it yourself and sell the aluminum heads and have some spending money to play around with

Cause i don't trust myself to mess around with a 350 tpi so i prefer someone who know what he's doing. And i kinda want to upgrade to vette manifold but im not sure yet.

First off, since the car isn't running you need to cut the price he's asking way down. Who knows what the condition of the motor, trans, rear, brakes, ect?

Then, if it turns out to be a good deal I' just use the heads that are on it. Why does he think the stock manifold won't work? Give me details and we'll get you up an running.

What year is the car? Is the engine original? What aluminum heads does it have (year is important)?

Sitting with all the fluids drained is horrible! Condensation can ruin stuff from this. I've seen rears left like this that get so rusty inside that when they are put back on the road the rust particles ruin the beairngs in a matter of weeks.

If those are centerbolt vette L98 heads, you can make the camaro intake fit by just ovaling out the center holes in the intake

For all the possible problems, I think 2k is still too much. You cant test drive it to test brakes and such, heck you cant even start it to see if it smokes, has a miss, throws any codes...etc..

I got my car for $2500 and everything works, no rust, no dents or door dings...

I would pass at that price, I am a believer in that if you wait a bit longer than you want, you will get what you want at the price you want

I agree, I wouldn't buy a car that I couldn't test drive first. He seems to want to get rid of the car, so I would be very cautious as to what he is not telling you.

Glad to hear it. I paid $1,000 for my car and it needed to be completed after a motor swap. Ordinarily I wouldn't have paid that much for a non-running car, but it had a brand new Cervini 2" cowl hood on it ($400 new) and a set of Edelbrock TES headers ($350 new). I figured that even if the car was a total loss I could easily get my money back by parting it out.

For some reason I had some kind of retarted attraction to the pile of bolts because I kept sinking money into it despite numerous problems. Many thousands of dollars later it's mostly finished. Okay, so it's mostly working anyway.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that these cars can be found in perfect working order for pretty cheap. If you spend a bit more up front you will be much happier in the end.
