350 TPI w/ t-5 from the factory?

y0

Did thirdgen's ever come from the factory 350 TPI with a T-5?

Edit: Just curious, I heard someone talking about it on some other forums. I'd trust what people say here and not there!

Firehwaks came w/ a 6 speed.

You could get the dealer to install a 350 w/ a voided warranty.

Firehawks also came with an aluminum 350 for the R versions. I would say that the firehawks were the only cars that had a chance to, but I would have to doubt that with the T5 being as weak as it is.

EDIT: changed the bold text from did to had a chance to. I was asleep while posting this.

there were a very very select few made for the end of 86-beginning of 87 my understanding was that there were only a handful ever created but they werent a regular prodution because the tranny was crap and couldnt handle the torque from the 350.

Eh.
I did the 305-350 swap and my T-5 has lasted 3 years of stoopid driving and several long road trips.

It's not that bad.

yea no ****, nobody listens to the people that actually looked for one and were alive when you could order a new thirdgen FROM THE FACTORY on this message board that say "no 5.7,5 speed" there should be a sticky at the top of all forums so this is never argued again until someone comes forward with indeniable, unquestionable, real proof (like the actual car) that has a 5.7/manual STOCK!!!!! Im goin in the garage now and run my car with the door closed until I dont have to hear about this anymore.

There is info on the "net" somewhere about the 50 camaros in 86 that were "experimental"...testing the 350 before entering mass production. These had 5-speeds. I don't think any escaped the crusher.

And to clarify my post previous...I wan't trying to say you could get a firehawk w/ a 5-speed...which would be stupid.
When I was looking for a 5speed car, I did find a 5-speed in Tennessee with a 350 inserted by dealer when bought new...with paper work.

Edit:
On another note...I wanted a 2002 friebird w/ an LS6 if they were to produce one. They didn't, but with the cash I bet you could get an LS6 installed...though a Vette would probably end up cheaper. I'm sure it was the same for the third gen years also. The Vette could satisfy the manual trans and 350 combo.

Gm experimented with a lot of things like the camaro with four wheel Steering. Belive it or Not They Had them. They never went into production That I know of but you can bet your TPI that there is a GM Executive, or engineer Some where that Has one.

is Topic is *** bad as the old camaros that had the high performance aluminum intake and Holley in the trunk. Not installed. You had to do that Your self.

They tinker, brianstorm, and Play around with ideas Alot of stuff was built that We Will never See!!!!!

I got a 1LE 350 and it was converted to 5 speed. Yes the RPO's and the block/saved framed windo sticker agree it's 5.7 auto when it was made. I don't know if the T-5 is built at all but it was raced in SOLO comp.

I'd like to know where all this load of garbage comes from. What you read, just disregard it as fiction. They did not have 5-speeds.
I'd even question the '50' number at this point, I dont think anyone from GM has ever stated that it was just propogated by magazine writers.

Damn myths are never going to die.

Agreed.

Edit:
My info comes from a discussion once on gcfba.org. Your right, they did not have 5-speeds, but the topic was on when the 350 actually started in the thirdgens. I stand by my other statments, though.

Lots of times these types of cars escape the crusher to be found as salvage titled cars... at car shows, and in some people's collections. Example...you can find 88 GTAs running around with the Turbo V6s...from the "factory" (PAS)... But they didn't make them...
