runner and base: which should I get for me?

yes, I know this topic has been beaten to death, but I would just like to know what to use for my application.

I am putting a new crate 350 (~300fwhp) in my '86 Caprice Classic, and am obviouse putting a TPI on that.

Do you think it would be worth it to replace the runners and base? I would think that this would be a bottleneck. Also, I am a little strapped on cash, but I found some SLP runners for like $250 on ebay, so that ain't to bad. What brands would be the best for me? Should I even worry about the base?
BTW, I was planning on porting my plenum anyway. Should I just do the same to the base?

EDIT: I just relized my title is a little confusing, and I apologize. It was supposed to be "Which kind should I get for me?"

you can get slp runners new for abot 260, if you do get them, clean up the casting marks and stuff, they usually come in the mail in pretty rough shape. An edelbrock base is like 350 bucks. Before you install these pieces its a pretty good idea to gasket match them and porting won't hurt.

If you dont want to port any parts, then I would get the Accel base and AS&M semi-siamesed large tube runners. Un-touched, those two flow the best.

VERY pricey though!

The only TPI parts that are bolt on are the AS&M runners. Everything else that is cast and sold in the aftermarket needs to be ported or power is being left on the table!

All brands of bases and runners included, do not believe the hype, none of it is acceptable out of the box IMHO.

I'm the complete opposite.

I won't mind porting, but I want some good and cheaply priced pieces to start with. You guys have plenty of tutorials on how to port everything on a TPI

None of it is cheap my friend.

Edlebrock base and SLP runners is as budget as it gets. But it still aint cheap, and gonna need pleanty of work.

I think I would be very interested in that package. Do the runners come with gaskets?

Will you consider selling them apart? I would pay $250 for both, since they are used.

also, for you and Ray Royer, how good condition is everything in? Polished, stock casting, dings, etc etc etc

yes, I am interested. What would be your preferred method of payment? Are you local (I'm in Orlando)? What do you want for shipping?

also, is it for the 89-92 years, or 85-88? What are the differences?

i have all the bolts for the runners. i dont have a digital camera , maybe i can find someone with one. i can guarantee you they are brand new. the only difference in the runners from 85-88 to the 89-92 are the 85-88 have a cold start injector hole and the 89-92 dont have the hole for the injector. what year is your motor. as for payment i would prefer a money order. the runners i have are for 89-92. but you can still use them on 85-88. alot of people dont even use the cold start injector.

I am going to fill up the cold injector hole anyway, so your set is cool.

I just wanted pics for proof that you have them. No offense or anything, just protecting my *** as much as possible
