Harness Hassles

When re-attaching the fuel injector harnesses, how do you know which one goes on which injector? They are in 4 groups of 2 harnesses each. Does it matter within each group (does it batch fire 2 at the same time maybe?). We fired the new motor up for the first time last night (very exciting) but it was running like a bag of crap (very demoralizing). Any thoughts on this harness problem?

They all fire at the same time. Check the timing, vacuum, DTC codes, etc, they might be able to help you diagnose your problem.

All 8 fire at the same time? Or just each group of 2?

All 8 fire at once...

Batch = All injectors at same time
Bank to Bank = 1 side, then the other
Sequential = Each injector fires individually.

batch really means.... they fire in a batch... any group of more then one injector can be considered a batch.

bank to bank is a TYPE of batch injection.

so yes, TPI is bank to bank batch injection.

TPI is not a bank to bank system. All 8 injectors fire at one time. Its a batch fire system that just so happens to have all 8 injectors in the batch.

They actually fire twice for each cycle. Half the mixture on one shot and the other half in another shot. That way it keeps the fuel/air mixture flowing. Not the best way to do it but it works. Sequential Port Injection works better.....

The pink/black plugs go on the odd bank(drivers side) and the light green/ black go on the even bank(passenger side). If you did some heavy mods to the motor you might have to do some prom tuning to get it to run, or at least let it go into closed loop to adjust the fuel trim.

I guess you'd call them heavy mods in the sense that this 350, while not that crazy (cam, slight porting) is replacing a 305 - but I switched to a 24# lti injector, so my thinking is this - fuel injectors are delivering more fuel than the computer thinks they are but the motor is bigger than the computer thinks it is - so they should balance out. I am getting a custom prom done very soon though from Westers Garage in Alberta.
