Ok, what I have is a 305 TPI auto. Did the exhaust syst. with slp headers, the intake with slp runners, ported plenum & manifold. Now I want to get a cam & heads combo. But I dont want to spend too much, so Im thinking of taking the heads to a machine shop. but what do I need to tell them to do? Do I need to get a cam firs & then port the heads to match it? As you guys can see Im lost. Will somebody show me the light.
One more thing, lets say I get a cam & heads installed. Do I need a new chip or the stock chip can stay? what else needs to be changed with cam & heads?
I want to do this but Im afraid Ill mess something up. This is my daily driver & I already have my wife on my a** telling me not to mess with it. Can you guys see my predicament.

You can get the stock heads worked on... but it is a bit of trouble deciding exactly how much work to do. I would just get a nice inexpensive set of World Products s/r Torquers - these are really good heads for the buck, plus you can have a machine shop clean them up and do a little bowl blending for another two or three hundred bones, and you'd have some very very nice flowing heads.
As for the cam, the best advice I can come up with is to call CompCams. They will listen to your specs and guide you to a matching cam. If you don't want a CompCam, just take thier reccomendation and shop for a cam that closesly resembles it.
