get a crank scraper and don't worry about the knife edging.

Crank scraper and windage tray are better investments than knife-edging unless you just have to have that last 5 HP for about $100 per HP.

I agree with above

Yea the extra 5HP that u gain is hardly worth the cash, but then again it is a 5hp that increases effency and does not effect emissions, of coarce the other changes also do the samething in helping just they help more and cheaper.

I had one done it was $675 with a balance job at the same time. The crank I had done was made by L.A. Billet and worth a lot of money. If you do that to a stock crank you will have a hard time balancing it. The best way is to get a crank with the counter weights designed for it.

Jerry

Here is a picture of a nice lightweight crank with 3.800 stroke, the crank is 44.9 lbs this short block is going in my Camaro.

Jeeeeeeeze!!! A local guy here does them for $225 with a balance included!

A new SCAT crank with the knife edge cast in is cheaper though...

Or you could just break out the die grinder and save the $225.

Yes you can grind on all your counter weights with any tool you have. The only problem is getting the crank to balance after your done. If you take metal off you have to do it 180 degrees apart or add heavy metal to the area you just ground off and I have seen $400 in heavy metal in one crank before, so it's best to start with a crank made for it.

I had 70 to 80 bucks in heavy metal alone add'd to my stroker crank (not counting labor on it and it weighed 55 lbs before) when I had it balanced. Before I also had the 400 Eagle turned to 350 mains cost me another 100 bucks.
