Bog when car shifts
If I am at a stop and floor the car, it will take off very fast just like normal but when it shifts the car bogs very bad. I can keep my foot on the gas and the power will eventually come back a couple seconds later and pull hard up till it shifts again. Then it will bog once it shifts again...
Its done this ever since I rebuilt the engine. Its a 355 TPI with a zz4 cam, 24lb accel injectors.
I watched the fuel pressure at WOT and while it bogged and it stayed steady the whole time.
Anyone have any ideas?

Well the tranny shifts fine. Maybe your right, I dont know what else could cause this, it seems like it would be transmission related. Converter messin up maybe? Would spark knock cause this big of a bog. Timing is at 6*. It doesnt matter how warm the engine is, it will still bog.

Think i figured it out. I just need to tune more, its prob running really lean or rich at wot, i just couldnt feel a bog in first gear because of firsts gearing.

I know the '85 is a totaly different animal, but they used to bog when upshifting. It was especially noticeable going into third gear. A larger Throttle Body took away that problem. The 85's were programmed a little richer than the 86-89 models which didn't have the bog so you could be on the right track with your assesment.

You did try unplugging the torque converter clutch first, right? The lock-up can cause a bog after a shift, if it locks intermittently.

Just tryed it and nothing different. I did notice that it shifts late and hangs around 5,500 way to long and bogs when it shifts. If I manuel shift 1st to 2nd to try to keep the rpms down at wot there is no bog. So its like when the rpms go really high(5,500) before the shift, it bogs. If I give it 90% throttle it is great, no bog. Prob because the engine isnt reving to redline. Also I have noticed that if I do a massive burn-out
with the rpms around redline for a little while the car will die when I let off the gas and when I start it back up the engine sputters and shakes bad and goes away after like 20 seconds?
