TPI at top end
Me and a friend of mine were talking today, I have the opportunity to pick up a donor car for dirt cheap. I wanted to steal the TPI setup off it to go on the new motor I'm building. He told me that TPI wasn't very good past 4k. Is there anything to this? Should I consider a different injection system, or is there something I can do to the TPI to create more high end HP. I've been kicking around the idea of making my 350 block a 383. I just want to know if I should consider something else for fuel delivery.

Use the search function, and you will find a lot of useful information.. This has been discussed (and is practically the primary discussion subject of this section)...

Yes/no. Its really 4500, but mine with cut-out air boxes, K&N's, and ported plenum runs to 5000. Of course, I got a small-cammed 350.
For things you can do to it, do a search. There is SOOOOO much more information than I can include in one post.

If your going with a 383 you will like the HSR (Holley stealth ram) better than a stock or modified TPI. The tpi maxes out at 4500 rpms. It will choke your 383. Do the search though as its all a matter of what you like.

ok...I know I want the aftermarket Fuel injection....but should I buy the donor car anyway at $400? I could easily part it out...it's a red IROC with T-Tops...I wouldn't want to sell anything under the hood...the only reason I would mess with the TPI is that it's brand new....

For $400, and if you have a place to store it while you tear it apart, I don't really think you can go wrong. The parts are worth much more than $400, even if there arent that many left.

only problem is...idiot who owned it before the guy who owns it now put a top post battery in it...anyone want to hazard a guess as to what will happen if you put a top post battery in a third gen? In other words the engine compartment is pretty much trashed
