Anyone ever clean there throttle bodies?
I was jsut woundering, because i usually take some carb cleaner/intake cleaner and spray it in the throttle body when the car is off and the throttle open and take a tooth brush and scrub. Well, ever since then, the car has not run right. Any one know that i did wrong?

Carb cleaner is for carbs. Throttle body cleaner is for throttle bodies. Carb cleaner does something to fuel injected cars... I think it can mess with the O2 sensor amongst other things.

I used carb cleaner on mine before, and no problems. Its basically the same thing as throttle body cleaner...
What is much better than cleaning that way is to take it of the car, fully disssemble it, and then reassemble/install withg new gaskets, does wonders for idle quality and throttle respnose if you have a really gunked up tb. -John

I did it the way rocket bird is talking about, but I went to extremes. I sanded and polished the throttle blades to a mirror finish. Knifeedged the blades, and then powdercoated with 96% gloss clear. Looks really good. Wish I could post a picture.
