LT1 block under a TPI heads/intake possible?

Do they line up at all? I have a 305 TPI M5 Circa 1988 that needs a new shortblock...And I have a complete LT1 2 bolt short block that I pulled out of the 95...Will they work together?

I would try and use the LT1 heads. They are A LOT better than the L98 ones. Also, the LT1 can rev way past the powerband for the TPI, so you wouldn't be able to pull anything past 5k, which is way before redline for the LT1.

In short? Get another LT1 intake, or do whatever you can, but keep the LT1 block on a short runner intake or expect to not be able to tap all the power from the LT1.

I think he is talking about running 305 heads.

For now, yeah. i'm trying to do this on a budget. I know LT1 heads are much better, I even have a set of LT4 heads...But they aren't for this car...

I would think you might have head gasket sealing problems in the area around the coolant ports between the heads and block, as the LT1 block has a much larger port than the stock heads, but it might be ok if you use the LT1 head gaskets. I don't know about cheaper as you would have to run new accessories because of the lt1's cam-driven waterpump.

Is there no way to use the waterpump off of a 305/350 TPI(belt driven)? Or is this just a waste of energy to attempt?

OK, that's the kind of info I was looking for. Now way in hell I'll be doing that now.
