Need new gearing for SR motor??
OK. Just basically looking educated opinions on my situation.
I have a 355 with a Superram. Max power is around 5000 I assume.(need a dyno)
Well with the 3.73 I have a go through the traps at around 113(hopefully more with a tune ) and 121 with a 100 shot(over 6000 rpm). I am not exactly sure what RPM without nitrous. I am sure someone can do the math.
I am looking at going to 3.42's out of a friends car and he getting the 3.73 out of mine. I think this will really put me more in my RPM range especially when I get the tranny rebuilt(see tranny rebuild thread) and the NX tuned in I think I will trap 125 with the shot I have in the car now, and only more NX to come.
Here is a breakdown of the run
ps ....spinning a lot
60' 1.90
1/8 7.43
MPH 97.89
1/4 11.42
MPH 120.76

Stuff a set of 28" slicks out back and keep your gears.
This will provide you with the best possible traction while driving your overall gearing down to the 3.4X range

You always hear people talking about running this gear or that gear. And they always base it off a 26" tire.
Hogwash IMO.
I prefer to set up the rear end with a gear that can be finessed with tire height. This will allow you to easily gear up or down when on the bottle with only a tire change. A taller gear now will also be there if you decide to build a higher rpm motor later, then swap down to a 26" tire. Anyway I am sure you get the point. Slicks also have a growth factor that you can often get from the manufacturer, it all plays a roll.
As fo the 28"er fitting, results varry, but alot of folks have squeezed em in there.
