Tune-up on L98?
Tune-up on L98?
I am about to do a tune up on my L98. I'm new to the L98 so I'm not sure what's involved in major tune up for these motors.
So far on my list I have:
cap & rotor
wires
plugs
air and fuel filter
oil and oil filter
I'm I missing anything? What about O2 sensors or ign coil? If so, what kind?
Thanks

Everything looks good. Depending on your vehicle, there is probably only one O2 sensor. It's probably a good idea to change that if your car has high mileage. Mine went at about 160,000 though. A coil isn't necessary but can't hurt. TPIS says there is a few horsepower in using their Bosch sparg plugs. I've always used AC Delcos myself, but the Bosch one may be something to look into, especially if your looking to buy a good set of spark plug wires as well.

Don't waste your money on special spark plugs. TPiS gets results in several different ways and their data is skewed sometimes.
AC Delco stock spark plugs are perfect for a naturally aspirated vehicle. (no nos, turbo, or blower)
Try to get your current coil tested. If it's good you save a couple bucks, if it's bad you replace it obviously.
I just recently used Redline Si2 fuel system cleaner, 4 treatments/4 tanks of fuel. I would reccomend it, with the tune up. It scavanged me some 1.5mpg gas mileage and I didn't alter my driving habits catch my drift?
Also clean out your throttle body with throttle body cleaner (don't use carb cleaner) and get a lube job done and an alignment check if you so desire.
