does the fuel pump sending unit have an "anti bleed back valve"? the problem i am having is that when i turn the key on it will bump up to 40 psi then drop to 0 in less than 2-3 sec's but when i get it started it runs at the normal pressure? what is up with that please help out guys just bought this 88 t/a and just trying to work the bugs out

It has what is called a Pressure Control/Rollover Valve in it. See item #10 in the attached picture. You could also have a bad fuel pressure regulator or leaking injectors. If you have a Holley Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, this is a normal occurrance. To check for a bad fuel pressure regulator, pinch off the fuel return line (5/16") at the flex hose and turn the key to prime the system. If the pressure holds steady, the regulator is bad. If it doesn't hold, you either have leaking injectors or a bad pressure control/rollover valve on the sending unit.

fuel pump

Could be the onset of a fuel pump that is worn out...
When they start going bad they usually start by being incapable of maintaining constant pressure.
