rebuilt 355

I dont really know what to search for exactly but Im sure this was covered before somewhere. If so, point me to it. Otherwise, here is my problem. I just rebuilt my 355 into my GTA. It runs pretty good except that it runs like crap until it is warmed up. I havent done any PROM tuning at all yet, and I know that is one possible solution. Could there be something else to check or that would make the car do this? It didnt do it before I rebuilt the engine so I dont think something went bad in it. I must say on a sidenote that Im surprised how much more the car likes to pull on the topend with the HSR compared to the TPI. One more question...where and what brand is the cheapest AFPR I can use with the HSR? Mine didnt come with one and Im having backfiring out the exhaust and intake so I think Im running pretty lean. This engine uses gas like crazy though but maybe that is because it is just being broken in?

I dun no man. I had a 350 with the LT4 cam 195 TF Heads and SR and was running bone stock chip , 8* timing , stock converter, with perfect drivability and 25 MPG. I think something is off.

yeah im not really sure what it is....it just pops and stutters alot. Once around 160 degrees or so, it works fine. The gas problem is probably just from running it too hard trying to show it off at our local meets over the weekend and to some friends. Makes sense doesnt it? Anyway...whatever the problem is with the crappy driving with a cold engine, my dad is putting in a resistor to make it think it is running colder or something so it runs fine. Then when it is at operating temp I just have to turn the resistor off. That is going to be the temporary fix for now I guess until someone can help me out.

The pop and stutter is not enough pumpshot.

If you did all that work.... HSR/heads/cam etc... and you havn't done ANY prom tuning....... it will run like ****. Period.

Took 5 months to get mine working descent and it could still have used a few tweeks.

BTW, should have spent the extra few bones and got the kit that comes with the AFPR. Who knows who you ran your fuel lines and what fittings, the new AFPR might need some re-plumbing.
