OK, have done extensive research on this, but right now I am a little confused on a few things. I dont understand the relay splicing, I do not understand the new MAF burnoff relay hook up, and I do not understand the C12 wire removal. Like I said I am just a little confused and hoping someone could clear this stuff up for me.

Thank you.

OK I have been doing some more research on this and I found a thread here that is actually correcting Davis's instructions. Does this guy know what he is talking about and should i make these changes to my printed instructions?

This is why I got a 165 harness when I did the swap. Davis' instructions didn't seem quite right to me, even though dozens of people have used them with sucess. I just saw visions of myself standing there at 3:00 AM for 2 weeks in a row until ultimately I stabbed myself in the head over and over with my test light.

I figured a $100 wiring harness was well worth the money.

Well this swap seems to be easier then trying to find a harness and havig to install it. Plus it sounds pretty easy. I sure hope it is

I think I know what I'm talking about

I used Corvette wiring diagrams for the 85 and compared it to the 86-89 diagrams to come up with my wiring changes. There might be some difference in f-bodies but I don't know. My car's been working fine since the 165 change-over.

Cool, I did not know you were a member

Well I have read about alot of f-body guys using Davis' instuctions and not having a problem with it. And then I read your thread saying that he has made a few mistakes. So I REALLY needed to know what to do. But I also asked this in another thread where someone told me that Vettes were a little different. So I am just going to use Davis' instuctions.

I hope I did not offend you in any way by questioning your knowledge.

But I do have one question.

Did you use the same relay PN for both relays? And do you think that will work on an f-body?

Thank you

No offense taken. We all need to ask questions to get things right.

You can use the power relay for both. The relay is the same for vettes and f-bodies.

Ebay is your friend. There are always harnesses on there. Plus, there's always Hawks thirdgen parts and Thirdgen Resource.

Overall, modifying the harness probably is pretty easy, unless you make a mistake. When it comes to wiring, tracking down mistakes can be a friggin nightmare.

From looking at the wiring diagrams, there seems to be a difference in the wiring of the 5 volts source to the TPS, IIRC. I also don't see that it would make any difference as long as both have the 5 volts available at the correct times. The computer wiring harness diagram for the F and Y bodies are shown in the same picture with the designation as to which one is which.

I revised the pinout list for the swap due to things I saw in the wiring harness diagrams that didn't make sense to me. I also kept a copy of the original pinout list so if what I did doesn't work, I can always put it back and then go with the original listing.

I am going to be using that diagram myself soon to double check that the person who built my adapter harness (so I can switch between the 870 and 165) is correct. I hae an A/C problem that may be connected to the adapter wiring or is a programming problem. I am checking all possibilities!!!!!

Ok Bluevette85, You are putting Burnoff connector C and E and Power connector E to MAS connector pin A, When Davis is putting these same wires to ECM connector B1. Is this a corvette thing or does B1 and MAS pin A do the same thing?

They are both 12 volt sources. I just though it was cleaner to use all the wires from the MAS connector that I could.
