Bad TPS???

On the weekend I tried to see if my TPS was properly setup so I did as the tech page said and use jumper wires and a voltmeter to get readings with the ignition on. Measuring off the top 2 wires I got .26 volts, but when I rotated the sensor, the voltage didnt change. Also when I opened the throttle blades, the voltage didnt change either.

Am I doing something wrong or do you think my sensor is just gone?? Would the car still operate alright if the sensor wasnt working properly??

I'm not sure how you had the jumper connected but what you can do is take two paper clips or sewing needles. Stick one in the back of the TPS connector at the top and center pin without disconnecting the connector. Turn the key to the on position and measure the voltage that way. Remember, top is negative and center is positive. Just a thought!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try this link and do it again. You may have a bad tps. It doesnt take much for it to adjust. This link has pics.
