89 GTA w/Stock 350 TPI

I was on my way to Cleveland last night, and my car started getting louder, (has no exahust from cat back....I know I know )....then it lost power. By that I mean I was crusing @ 65mph and when I pressed the gas to change lanes, it did nothing...then it started to slow down....and finally, as I was getting off the exit, it died.I had figured it was the fuel pump, I had to get it towed 35 mi to my house...$100 bucks. Next day I tried to hear if the pump was working...it was, but still wouldn't start... today I tried it before I had to push it to a friends house 2 blocks away, and sure enough, it fired right up! However, it would not go over 15 mph, if I give it more pedal than that it bogs like its gonna die again. As I said in the subject, it's a stock tpi 350 except for the alternator (powermaster), and from the cat back is missing.. If anyone has had a similar problem or has a suggestion...it would be great ....If not, thanx for reading!

I had a similar problem with my car. Turned out to be the MAF sensor. Do you have any codes?

A friend of mine had the same thing happen. It turns out his catylic converter was clogged with dirt and no air could get through. Start your car and leave it running, if your converter starts to glow red...it's clogged!!

I had the same problem once, drove to work at 10 mph. Turned out it was a shorted injector bank dumping fuel into the engine.

If you pull your dipstick and it smells like gas, might be worth taking a look.

Before spending a ton of money, get your fuel pressure checked. I'm betting on a MAF relay myself.
