can i paint runners with body paint?

I want to paint the runners the same color as my car, med red met. I know there is a guy here with a 73ish vette with electron blue runners. I assume that is standard body paint. So do you think it would be ok. I know they get hot but hot enough to peel the paint? I just don't want to go through all the trouble of sanding and polishing my AS&M runners, but the plenum is polished so i want the runners to look nice too.
thanks
John

I asked him that

I contacted him to ask the same question.
He e-mailed this response.

"actually there are painted with urethane base coat and clear coated with urethane clear, they hold up great to heat. "

Sweet thanks. I am by no means a paint expert, do you happen to know if the duplicolor touchup spray cans are urethane based? I will go check now.

Let me know what you find

Ok, it didn't say on the website, i will call tommrow. I kinda doubt it is urethane based. Anyone know where to get urethane paint or would standard Enamel/Laquer be ok with the heat.

I ended up using rustoleum nighthawk mettalic and a few layers of clear. It holds up to the heat fine. Here is a pic.
