It is an 87 iroc-z28 with the 5 speed. I was told it is a 305 but I didn't know they put the 305 with the 5 speed. I think it is a 350. Anyway, for 1600 with a new transmission and paint I couldn't go wrong.

 

Unless someone changed the engine, it came from the factory with a 305.

 

$1600 for an IROC in decent shape? That's not a deal, it's a steal. Let the fun begin.

 

from the factory an IROC-Z w/ a 5-speed was a 305, no way around it, they never sold sticks w/ a 350.

 

What kinda mileage do you guys get driving sanely?

 

bone stock i got about 25. i still get 25hwy and 19-21mph average with the combination below with teh stock chip, my car is an automatic tho

 

If it is a 305 try to get a pair of injectors from a 350 from the classifieds board as well as an AFPR. You have 19 lb hr, 350s have 21 lb hr.

With a few modifications and driving mostly highway I'm getting 31mpg. I do have extensive work to the chip though. But if I am a lead foot I only get about 15-17 in the city.

Nice price for that car. Yep, 305. Check the tech articles or data for specs of the engine. I would like to get another one in decent shape to make a race car out of it.
